As everyone knows, undertaking is not easy. The hitchhiking project was our second unsuccessful startup. Our money was running low and we were in an all-or-nothing situation: we needed to earn money or we were going to have to look for a job.
I was very nervous - and when that happens I have a lot of bruxism. My tooth broke and I had to go to the dentist to fix it.
There are evils that come for good...
Upon arriving at my dentist, I discovered that she had a problem with the software she used in her office. The software was horrible - it ran in a Windows virtual machine on the Mac at the front desk, which was connected to a server inside the office. It had everything to go wrong.
I tried to help to fix the problem, without success. I asked her how much she paid: a thousand reais a year. I returned home with the idea of doing something to help my dentist.
That same day, I made a mockup of what I believed would be what she needed. I validated the mockups with Gustavo and we simplified things in order to define an MVP.
The next day, I had lunch with my dentist and showed her the mockup.
Would you pay for it? It will cost a thousand Reais per year.
Her answer was a resounding YES! I confess I didn't even believe it. I went back home and started looking for all the dentists I knew to show them the mockups.
We validate the need for the product and the intention to pay for it. Then we started to develop the product.
The advantage of having a rope around your neck because of the need for revenue is that development flies 🚀
In exactly 1 month we launched the first version of Doutore, running at my dentist, our first paying customer!
